Troye Sivan has officially kicked off a new era. The pop star released “She’s the Best,” the title track and lead single from his upcoming fourth studio album, alongside a music video starring Nicole Kidman and drag icon Sasha Colby. Directed by Gordon Von Steiner, the clip finds Sivan holding court in a drag club while Kidman, a fellow Australian, watches from the sidelines before joining him in drag by the video’s end.
The song is a hushed, spoken-word tribute to an unnamed muse, written by Sivan alongside Jack Antonoff, Leland, Styalz Fuego and The 1975’s George Daniel, with a surprise vocal assist from Charli xcx tucked into its closing moments.
Sivan described the album as deeply personal in a statement. “It explores the high-octane highs of the last few years, and the solitude and longing that sat underneath,” he said. “It feels like the truest and most creative version of myself I’ve ever shared.”
He also opened up about landing Kidman, whom he first met filming Boy Erased in 2018. After sending her the track and video references, he got an unexpected callback. “I let it go to voicemail, and then I see the transcription starts coming, it’s like, ‘Hi darling Troye, it’s Nic,'” he recalled.
She’s the Best arrives October 9.
