Shygirl Opens A New Era With Cinematic Single “Alyse”

Shygirl is back, and she’s taking her sound somewhere darker. “Alyse” marks the British artist’s first new music of 2026, released via Because Music alongside a three-act cinematic short film. Written and produced with longtime collaborators Karma Kid and JD Reid, the track threads Shygirl’s vocals between raw cello harmonies and distorted electronic textures, exploring the comfort and vulnerability love can offer in unfamiliar moments.

The accompanying visuals, developed from an original story and script by Shygirl and writing partner George Smale, were directed by Francesco Loy Bell and Oliver Bell, pushing the song’s emotional tension into full narrative territory.

The single follows a packed 2025 for Shygirl, which included the remix release ALIAS is ME for her debut EP’s fifth anniversary, a multimedia installation and live performance at Centre Pompidou in Paris, and a collaboration with sexual wellness brand HOWL. With “Alyse,” she signals the start of a new, more atmospheric chapter, one fans have been anticipating since her acclaimed Club Shy era.
