Ariana Grande Exits ‘American Horror Story’

Ariana Grande‘s horror debut is on hold. The pop star has exited American Horror Story Season 13 due to a scheduling conflict with her “Eternal Sunshine” tour, and did not shoot any scenes for the new season, subtitled “13.”

Grande was announced last Halloween as part of the star-studded cast, which would have marked her first appearance in Ryan Murphy’s long-running anthology series and a reunion with the producer following her 2015 role in “Scream Queens.” Back in November, she teased the casting news, saying, “I received a text, a very exciting text. I’ll probably have a very tiny thing to do in it, but I’ll be grateful to be a part of it because I love everyone in it.”

Production changes ultimately clashed with her tour dates. Season 13 began filming in April, while Grande’s tour launched June 6 in Oakland and has kept her on the road with dates across the U.S., Canada and the UK.

The season moves forward without her, still packed with franchise veterans reprising their “Coven” characters, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd and Jessica Lange, with director John Waters also joining the cast. “American Horror Story: 13” premieres Sept. 24 on FX before streaming on Hulu.

As for Grande, the tour rolls on, and her eighth studio album, Petal, drops July 31.
