Tinashe Owns Every Second of “Too Easy”

Tinashe is not interested in your doubt and she made sure you knew it. The singer returned June 5 with her first new solo material in two years, a punchy, playful single called “Too Easy,” released via A Nice Life Recording Company and Atlantic Records.

Co-produced by Kimj and Zack Sekoff, the track sits somewhere between 2000s R&B and K-pop energy, all rubbery bass lines, sugary backing vocals, and a carefree confidence that feels completely earned. Tinashe actually previewed the record back in April during her DJ set at Coachella’s Do LaB stage, but the full song hitting streaming is a whole different experience.

She doesn’t hold back on the lyrics, either. “I know that I’m a superstar,” she sings. “And they hate to see I’ve come so far, but I can’t help that I make it look so easy.” There’s also a line that captures her energy perfectly: “I feel like a celebrity, if you’re mad then go to therapy.”

The single arrives off the back of her massively successful Quantum Baby era, which produced “Nasty” and her highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 hit “No Broke Boys.” Whatever comes next, Tinashe is clearly not slowing down.
