Jennie is soundtracking the situationship of the summer. The Blackpink star released “Less Than a Lover,” a dreamy new single out now via OddAtelier/Columbia Records, exploring a relationship caught between friendship and something more.
Jennie first teased the track during her headlining set at Governors Ball in New York back in June, and now she’s delivered the full cinematic experience, including a music video she also helped direct. “It’s more than lust, it’s just enough,” she sings on the track. “And all I want this summer is a little bit less than a lover.”
The accompanying visual follows a couple drifting through a hazy, sun-soaked story that ends on a cliffhanger, quite literally, as the two nearly kiss before pulling away. “To be continued,” the video teases at its close. The single arrives on the heels of Jennie’s debut solo EP, Ruby, and ahead of her upcoming performances at Lollapalooza and Summer Sonic Festival, keeping her solo momentum firmly in motion.
