Lady Gaga Debuts “The Dead Dance” Song and Video

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has unleashed a haunting new track titled “The Dead Dance,” along with an equally eerie music video. Released on September 3, 2025, “The Dead Dance” marks Gaga’s latest single — a pulsating synth-pop/disco number that finds empowerment in dancing away the pain of heartbreak. The song was co-written and produced by Gaga alongside hitmakers Andrew Watt and Cirkut, and it appears on the newly released digital reissue of her album Mayhem.

In true Gaga fashion, the accompanying video is a cinematic spectacle. Directed by Tim Burton and filmed on Mexico’s infamous Island of the Dolls, the visuals embrace a gothic horror aesthetic. Gaga performs hypnotic choreography amidst creepy, doll-filled scenery, a concept drawing comparisons to Michael Jackson‘s iconic “Thriller” for its spooky flair. The pop icon even carried the ghoulish theme into a live medley performance of “The Dead Dance” at this year’s MTV VMAs, giving fans an early start to spooky season.

Interestingly, “The Dead Dance” was crafted with Netflix’s hit series Wednesday in mind. Gaga makes a cameo in the show’s upcoming second season, and the track features prominently on its soundtrack. “I immediately had a song in mind called ‘The Dead Dance’… once I knew it was going to be for Wednesday, I made it extra special for the show,” Gaga said of the collaboration, adding that seeing “music, pop culture and Tim Burton” combine was “a very special recipe.” The result is a song and video that perfectly blend Gaga’s theatrical pop style with delightfully dark vibes.
