Dominic Fike is growing up in real time. The singer-songwriter released How to Quit Smoking, his third studio album via Columbia Records.
The 15-track project was originally set for October 9. Fike announced at the final show of his tour that he was pushing it back so he and his collaborators could keep polishing it. He has called it a “living album,” written, performed and produced in real time on the road during his Comedy Tragedy Parody tour, in hotels, tour buses and dressing rooms.
The album finds Fike at 30, newly sober and a father, and it plays like a reflection on leaving old habits behind. It blends garage rock on “Wallflower” and “Squeeze,” beachy rap-rock on “Pangea” and the platinum hit “White Keys.”
The guest list is eclectic: Danny Brown, Grace Ives, Gabriel Jacoby, Hether, Emma Ogier, Jorjiana and Love Spells all appear. One of the most talked-about moments is a phone call from prison with rapper Tay-K, in which Fike asks for advice about growing up.
It’s his first studio album since 2023’s Sunburn, following last year’s Rocket mixtape.
