A trio of Hollywood stars is being recognized for using their fame to do good. At the 5th annual Anthem Awards (presented by the Webby Awards), singer/actress Sabrina Carpenter, singer/producer Selena Gomez and actor Andrew Garfield each received the Gold Anthem Award for their charitable efforts this year. The ceremony honors public figures who spark positive change, and all three honorees have notable causes.
Carpenter was celebrated for her work with PLUS1, a nonprofit fundraiser she helped run. She directed $1 from every ticket on her tour — along with proceeds from brand partnerships — to causes supporting LGBTQ+ rights, mental health and animal welfare, raising over $1 million so far. Gomez earned the award for her Rare Beauty Foundation, which has donated tens of millions to youth-focused mental health programs worldwide. Garfield was honored for his partnership with Sesame Workshop (the nonprofit behind Sesame Street) on educational initiatives for children. Together with other honorees this year (from Katie Couric to Tim Gill), the three stars showed that entertainers can leverage their platforms for social impact. Each accepted the Gold Anthem Award with gratitude, underscoring that giving back has become a centerpiece of their careers.
