After nearly two years of cryptic clues, elaborate livestreams, and a 25-foot ice sculpture in downtown Toronto that fans attacked with pickaxes, Drake has finally revealed the release date for his long-awaited ninth studio album, Iceman. It drops May 15 via OVO Sound and Republic Records.
The date was uncovered in the most Drake way possible. On April 20, a massive ice block was installed in downtown Toronto with the Iceman release date hidden somewhere inside. One day later, Twitch streamer Kishka chiseled his way through the thawing sculpture, found a bag buried inside, and pulled out a magazine listing May 15 as the date. Drake’s team invited Kishka to his Toronto home to confirm the find, handed him a bag of cash, and the announcement was made official.
Iceman will be Drake’s first full-length solo project since 2023’s For All the Dogs, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, a streak his solo albums have maintained without exception. Pre-release singles have included “What Did I Miss?”, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as “Which One” featuring Central Cee and “Dog House” featuring Julia Wolf and Yeat. The album is expected to feature collaborations with 21 Savage, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and possibly Morgan Wallen, among others.
The rollout has been one of the more creative album campaigns in recent memory, complete with cinematic livestream episodes set in Toronto, Manchester, and Milan.
