Weeks of guessing games are over. Drake‘s mysterious “Fear of Missing Out” project is not an album, not a tour and not a livestream stunt. It is a film.
The rapper dropped a teaser this weekend confirming the format, captioning the clip “a not so short film directed and scored by the family.” The twenty five second trailer shows him piloting a neon green speedboat across open water as a female narrator poses the project’s thesis. “What if I told you there were two versions of your life? In one, you avoid risk and withhold love. You feel like you’ve gone missing from yourself. You look for something you can’t find. In the other version of your life, you find it.”
The reveal ends months of speculation that ranged from a deluxe edition to a full blown world tour. Fans had already spotted the same lime green boat during a dusk shoot days earlier, surrounded by camera cranes and a full production crew, and connected the dots before Drake said a word.
The timing lands just months after his sprawling triple album release, forty three songs across “Iceman,” “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour,” featuring Future, 21 Savage, Sexyy Red, Central Cee and more. If anyone was wondering whether Drake had anything left to say after that drop, the answer is arriving fast.
