Jonah Kagen Draws a Line in the Sand on New Single “Do Better”

Jonah Kagen is done waiting around. The Savannah-born singer-songwriter released “Do Better” on October 9 via Arista Records, the second single from his upcoming album Eternity of Anything, arriving October 30.

The song captures the moment devotion turns into clarity, when loving someone stops being worth losing yourself. “I think ‘Do Better’ speaks for itself,” Kagen said. He describes it as a song to move to dramatically “when you’re feeling like somebody would do better if they wanted you as bad as they say they do.”

Kagen handled nearly every part of the track himself, writing, producing, recording, engineering and mixing it, with Dalton Thomas on drums. That hands-on approach runs through the whole album, which he made in near-total isolation over an intense two- to three-month stretch.

The new era builds on a big run for the artist. His single “God Needs the Devil” topped Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in 2025. Last year’s Sunflowers and Leather was recorded entirely on the road out of an Airstream trailer.
