The 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) nominations have been announced, with Kendrick Lamar leading the pack with ten nods, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for GNX, and Song of the Year for “Not Like Us.” Post Malone follows closely with eight nominations, while Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each garnered seven. The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 26 in Las Vegas and will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez.
Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Billie Eilish are topping the list. The three superstars emerged as the most-nominated artists this year, each racking up an impressive number of nods across multiple categories. All three will compete for the night’s top honor, Artist of the Year, setting up a thrilling showdown between the king of conscious hip-hop (Lamar), one of pop’s genre-blending hitmakers (Malone), and Gen Z’s alt-pop icon (Eilish). Beyond that, each artist is dominating their respective genres. Kendrick Lamar leads in the hip-hop/R&B field — he’s up for Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and earned a nomination for Favorite Hip-Hop Album, thanks to the impact of his latest project. Post Malone scored big in the Pop/Rock categories, including Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Pop Album, reflecting the success of his recent album and radio singles. Meanwhile, Billie Eilish makes her presence known in both Pop and Alternative categories, snagging nominations for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Pop Song (for her emotional ballad from the Barbie soundtrack), among others. It’s a diverse slate of nominations that sees fan-favorites from rap, pop, and alternative all sharing the spotlight at the AMAs this year.
Notably, Beyoncé has made a significant impact in the country music categories. Her album Cowboy Carter is nominated for Album of the Year and Favorite Country Album, and she is also up for Favorite Female Country Artist. This marks a historic moment as Beyoncé continues to break genre barriers. In the R&B categories, Muni Long has been recognized with a nomination for Favorite R&B Song for her hit “Made For Me,” highlighting her rising influence in the genre.
The full list of nominees spans various genres, reflecting the diverse landscape of today’s music industry. Fan voting is open until May 15, and the winners will be revealed during the live broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.
