Tyla Ignites the Desert in Explosive “Bliss” Music Video

Rising star Tyla has set the scene ablaze – literally – in the newly released official music video for her song “Bliss.” Directed by the iconic Director X (known for his work with Drake and Rihanna), the visual places Tyla center stage against a dramatic desert backdrop, delivering on the singer’s promise of high drama. As Tyla teased on her Instagram, this video was made “for the drama, for the plot… bliss mv out now” and the final product certainly lives up to that billing. The three-minute clip is a feast of striking imagery and choreography: Tyla appears in a series of sultry outfits, swinging daringly from a rope suspended in the sky and executing mesmerizing dance moves on the sand. All the while, tension builds in the background – and by the end, a fiery explosion erupts behind her, which Tyla pauses to watch over her shoulder. The metaphor of “breaking free into euphoria” is brought to life through this literal blast, capturing the song’s emotional climax with cinematic flair.

Beyond its eye-popping video, “Bliss” itself is a steamy track that continues Tyla’s knack for blending Afrobeats and R&B influences. First previewed during her Coachella performance this spring, the song sways with an Amapiano-inflected groove (a nod to Tyla’s South African roots) and finds the singer celebrating the intoxicating joy of love. “I don’t wanna be in the world without you,” she croons breathily in the chorus, her vocals floating over a lush piano and log-drum beat that exudes warmth. It’s both sensual and uplifting – a tone that Tyla amplifies through intimate close-ups in the video, where she locks eyes with the camera to convey vulnerability amid the spectacle. With “Bliss” now out in full force, Tyla is riding a wave of momentum: the 21-year-old notched a viral hit last year with “Water,” and recently won Favorite Afrobeats Artist at the AMAs. This new single and its explosive visuals look poised to add to her growing list of career highlights. Up next, Tyla will be bringing her high-energy performances to major festival stages (Governors Ball, Bonnaroo) and even hosting the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards later this month. If “Bliss” is any indication, Tyla’s star is only set to burn brighter – with plenty more fireworks to come.
