Taylor Swift is once again at the top of the American Music Awards nominations list, and honestly, is anyone surprised?
Swift leads the 2026 AMA nominations with eight nods, already holding the title of most-awarded artist in AMA history with 40 wins. She’s up for some of the show’s biggest prizes, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for The Life of a Showgirl, and Song of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia.” If she sweeps, she could tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most AMA wins in a single year.
Hot on her heels, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, Sombr, and Morgan Wallen are tied for second with seven nominations each. Carpenter is in the running for Artist, Album, and Song of the Year, while Dean and Sombr are first-time nominees competing head-to-head in the New Artist of the Year category. Sombr’s “back to friends” and Dean’s “Man I Need” are both in the Song of the Year conversation, making their rivalry one of the more compelling storylines heading into the ceremony.
The 52nd Annual American Music Awards will be hosted by Queen Latifah, returning to the role for the first time in over 30 years. The ceremony takes place May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Fan voting is open now through May 8.
