Gracie Abrams wasted no time making her Monday morning announcement count. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter officially revealed that her third studio album, Daughter From Hell, will arrive on July 17. And judging by her reaction, she’s more than ready for it.
“Whoa whoa whoa. Freaking out. I am so ready for it to be yours,” Abrams wrote on Instagram alongside the album cover reveal. The 16-track project was co-written and co-produced with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner, the same duo behind her first two albums, Good Riddance and the chart-topping The Secret of Us.
The lead single, “Hit the Wall,” drops Thursday, May 14, and Abrams has been vocal about her excitement. At the Met Gala, she described the track as “the introduction to this new chapter,” adding that it feels “embodied” and that she can’t wait for fans to make it their own.
The album, which she’s been teasing since March through cryptic Instagram posts (including a leather journal marked with the number “3” and a witch sticker), follows the massive success of The Secret of Us, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and sent her on a world tour and arena run. Abrams has also been debuting new material on the road, with songs like “Crazy Girl,” “Out of Nowhere,” and “Death Wish” already generating buzz among fans.
Inspired by Taylor Swift‘s prolific release pace, Abrams told Nylon she wants to keep the music coming. “There’s less pressure the more you release,” she said. “I want to just keep it coming while I’m in this period of writing as frequently as I am.”
Daughter From Hell is available for pre-order now, including a limited lavender vinyl exclusive.
