Meghan Trainor is choosing her family over the stage, and she is not apologizing for the choice, only for the disappointment it brings her fans.
The Grammy-winning pop star announced on April 16 that she has canceled her entire “Get In Girl Tour,” a 33-date run across the United States and Canada that was set to kick off June 12 in Clarkston, Michigan. The tour was produced by Live Nation and was scheduled to wrap August 15 in Los Angeles, with Icona Pop and her brother Ryan Trainor as opening acts.
In a heartfelt Instagram Story, Trainor explained her decision: “Balancing the release of a new album, preparing for a nationwide tour, and welcoming our new baby girl to our growing family of five has just been more than I can take on right now, and I need to be home and present for each and all of them at this time.”
In January, Trainor and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, welcomed their third child, a baby girl named Mikey Moon, via surrogate. She joins older brothers Riley, 4, and Barry, 2. Trainor was candid about how much she is juggling, but remained firm in her decision: “I know this will come as a disappointment to my fans, and I am so sorry to let you down. But I know this is the right decision for my family and me right now.”
For fans holding onto hope, there is some good news. Trainor’s seventh studio album, Toy With Me, is still on track for its April 24 release. She promised, “I promise I’ll be back soon, and I can’t wait for you to hear this new record.”
