The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame‘s class of 2026 just dropped, and it’s the kind of lineup that makes you wonder what took so long.
Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan will join the class of 2026 in the Performer category. The announcement was made during a Hall of Fame-themed episode of American Idol, with Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest delivering the news.
Collins, Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan all earned their spots on the first nomination, while Oasis, Iron Maiden, and Joy Division/New Order made it in on their third try. Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson once famously dismissed the Hall of Fame as “an utter and complete load of bollocks” in 2023, so his change of heart will be worth watching. Liam Gallagher’s response may be equally colorful, given that his last public take on a nomination involved some very colorful language about the organization’s membership.
Billy Idol summed up the feeling more graciously: “To be recognized by your peers is incredible. You don’t really know what people think about you, but this gives you an indication.”
The induction ceremony takes place November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with the broadcast airing on ABC and Disney+ in December.
