Yung Miami told everyone to watch, and now they can. The former City Girls rapper released Watch Dis, her first full-length solo album on the newly relaunched Uptown Records.
The title came straight from the scrutiny that followed her solo move. “They counted me out, and I heard every bit of it,” she said, adding that she could have played it safe with a single song but chose to go bigger.
The album rides a wave of momentum from “Spend Dat,” the breakout summer hit that became her highest-charting solo song and gave her a first solo No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. She even performed it at the New York Knicks’ championship parade.
Ahead of the release, she dropped two more singles: “2008” and the London On Da Track-produced “F You.” The guest list stretches from Atlanta to Jamaica, with Travis Scott, Quavo, G Herbo, Lil Baby, Kodak Black, Shenseea and Vybz Kartel all on board.
Yung Miami had already called it Album of the Year before it dropped. Now the streets get to decide.
