Hip-hop superstar Travis Scott pulled off a huge surprise by releasing Jackboys 2, an all-new compilation album from his Cactus Jack collective. The project dropped suddenly on July 13 – intentionally timed with “713 Day” (Houston’s area code day) as a nod to Scott’s hometown. Jackboys 2 serves as the long-awaited follow-up to 2019’s Jackboys and arrives packed with 17 tracks of high-octane rap curated by Scott.
Travis first hinted at Jackboys 2 just days prior with an Instagram teaser proclaiming, “The Jack is back with 17 new tracks full of trunk-rattling classics in the making. Hosted by Bun B of UGK.” That promise holds true on the final album. Houston rap legend Bun B lends his booming voice as the mixtape-style host, while Scott is joined by an all-star lineup of collaborators. Cactus Jack mainstays Don Toliver and Sheck Wes appear prominently, and the guest list extends to include big names like 21 Savage, Kodak Black, GloRilla, Waka Flocka Flame and more.
Jackboys 2 channels the rowdy, thrill-seeking spirit fans expect from a Travis Scott project. From booming anthems like “2000 Excursion” (which dropped with a wild music video) to bass-heavy posse cuts, the compilation is designed to rattle speakers and energize crowds. The surprise release caps off a banner year for Scott – he headlined Coachella in April and scored a recent No. 1 hit with “4×4” – and keeps listeners hyped as they await his next solo album.
