Fridayy Delivers Third Studio Album “Tension”

Fridayy has returned with “Tension,” his third studio album, released via Def Jam Recordings. The 12-track project explores love, vulnerability and the push and pull of relationships, continuing the intimate songwriting and velvety vocals that have defined the Philadelphia singer’s rise.

The rollout was led by singles “Haiku,” a track centered on regret and longing, and “Death Do Us Part,” a collaboration with Mariah The Scientist that closes out the album and first appeared on Fridayy’s surprise EP “Everybody Got Somebody.” Sonically, “Tension” leans into Caribbean-influenced rhythms and more rhythm-driven production than his previous work.

Fridayy opened up about the album’s direction in a statement. “Tension shows a different side to me. I followed what felt good and let the music take me somewhere new,” he said. “There’s still a lot of heart in these records, but there’s also this fun vibe to them.”

He added that the project was about honesty above all. “I wanted to make a project that felt honest to where I am right now, something people could hear themselves in, whether they’re going through it, falling in love, letting go, or just figuring life out.”

The four-time Grammy nominee continues to build on the momentum of 2025’s “Some Days I’m Good, Some Days I’m Not,” which featured Chris Brown, Kehlani and Meek Mill.
