Robyn Returns After 7 Years with Euphoric New Single “Dopamine”

Swedish pop icon Robyn is officially back, releasing “Dopamine,” her first new solo single in seven years. The track – a collaboration with her longtime producer Klas Åhlund – dropped this week, marking Robyn’s return since 2018’s acclaimed album Honey.

“Dopamine” channels the rush of falling in love through a vibrant synth-pop lens, pairing a four-on-the-floor beat with Robyn’s emotive vocals. Robyn says the song’s concept came from examining the science of feeling: “Everyone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we’re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemicals in our bodies,” she explained. She described the “doubleness of ‘Dopamine’” as experiencing an intense emotion that is “super real… and at the same time knowing it’s just a biological process.”

The result is a cathartic dance track that balances euphoria and introspection. “Dopamine” also serves as an exciting teaser for what’s next, as Åhlund has hinted that a full new album from Robyn is in the works. For now, fans can celebrate this triumphant comeback anthem.
