iHeartRadio Awards to honor Cher; McCrae, Timberlake to perform

The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards is set to pay tribute to Cher with the Icon Award, recognizing her significant impact on music and pop culture over the decades. The event will feature performances by top artists such as Justin Timberlake, Green Day, TLC, and more at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on April 1.

Cher, a distinguished artist with accolades including an Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy, will join the ranks of past Icon Award recipients like Bon Jovi, Elton John, Jennifer Lopez, and Pink. In 2023, she celebrated the 25th anniversary of her renowned album “Believe,” featuring the hit single of the same name that dominated the charts in 1998. Notably, Cher holds the unique achievement of securing a number-one Billboard single across seven consecutive decades.

Among the nominees, Taylor Swift leads with nine nods, including song of the year (“Cruel Summer”), pop song of the year (“Cruel Summer”), and artist of the year. In the previous year, she shared the record for most nominations with Harry Styles and emerged as the top winner of the night, clinching six awards, including song of the year for “Anti-Hero.”

Other notable nominees include Jelly Roll, 21 Savage, and SZA with eight nominations each, while Olivia Rodrigo follows closely with seven nods. The 12th annual awards ceremony, recognizing the most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations through 2023, will introduce new categories encompassing various genres such as pop artist of the year, K-pop artist of the year, best new artist in K-pop, and favorite debut album.

Fan votes will determine winners across categories like best lyrics, best music video, best fan army, and more. Social voting for the awards will conclude on March 25.
