For a band whose very name means “a hope or haven,” Oasis sure knows how to deliver pure euphoria. The Britpop legends – led by famously feuding brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher – put aside their differences and took the stage together in East Rutherford, NJ, for a triumphant reunion show that had 60,000 fans belting out ’90s anthems under the summer sky. It was Oasis’s first appearance in the New York area in 17 years, part of their much-anticipated Live ’25 reunion tour, and it more than lived up to the hype.
Arriving onstage at MetLife Stadium hand-in-hand in a show of brotherly unity, the Gallaghers kicked off the night with a thunderous performance of “Hello.” Pints of beer flew and fans embraced as the band powered through classics like “Supersonic,” “Some Might Say,” and B-side gem “Acquiesce” – the latter’s lyrics (“because we need each other, we believe in one another”) resonating even more as Liam and Noel shared the microphone. Throughout the night, the crowd was a sea of bucket hats, soccer jerseys, and joyous bromance. Packs of mates hugged, sang, and even did the U.K. football “Poznań” dance in unison. “They said you wouldn’t do it, America, and you did it,” Liam quipped proudly after seeing the entire stadium jump together. “Congratulations.”
After a soaring encore featuring “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Wonderwall,” and an explosive “Champagne Supernova” complete with fireworks, Oasis proved that time apart hadn’t dulled their swagger or sound. As thousands of fans continued singing Oasis songs on the train ride home, one message rang loud and clear: this band never lost its magic – and this night of Britpop glory was well worth the wait.
