Doja Cat Announces New Album Vie and Sets Release Date

Doja Cat is officially ready to usher in a new era – in French style, no less. The genre-blurring superstar announced her upcoming fifth studio album, Vie, will drop on September 26. She broke the news on Instagram with a cinematic, Parisian-inspired teaser video. In the clip, Doja poses by the Eiffel Tower wearing chic vintage fashion, playfully feeding a baguette to a lookalike double of herself. She captioned the post with a French phrase: “Je sais que tu es ma vie 🥖 Vie out 9/26” – which translates to “I know you are my life.” The album’s title Vie literally means “life” in French, and this flirtatious announcement makes it clear that French romance is a key theme of the project’s rollout.

Fans are already buzzing about the musical direction of Vie. In a recent interview with V Magazine, Doja Cat revealed that the record will be a “pop-driven project.” “I know that I can make pop music, and pop is just that – it’s popular,” she said, hinting that despite her foray into harder-edged rap on her last album, she’s embracing her pop sensibilities again. The 27-year-old singer/rapper has been dropping clues for months: she previewed new songs like “Jealous Type”, which is confirmed as the lead single and set for release on August 21. The album’s aesthetic leans heavily into love and romance – even launching a cheeky hotline for fans “who feel too much, too fast” – suggesting Vie will explore passion and relationships with Doja’s signature wit.

Vie will be Doja Cat’s first full-length release since 2023’s Scarlet, and expectations are sky-high. That last album proved her versatility by incorporating more rap, but yielded pop mega-hits like “Paint The Town Red.” Now with Vie, it sounds like she’s marrying those styles under a sophisticated, Parisian theme. As Doja teased in her album announcement, “Tu es ma vie” – “you are my life” – this new music is deeply personal. Mark your calendars for September 26, because if Doja Cat’s glamorous French alter-ego is any indication, Vie will arrive with plenty of drama and genre-bending surprises.
