Indie-pop singer-songwriter Clairo has a new home at Atlantic Records – and she says the move won’t compromise her artistic freedom. The 25-year-old artist, born Claire Cottrill, announced that she’s signed a record deal with Atlantic, part of Warner Music Group, after releasing her last album independently. It’s a major-label turn for Clairo, who first broke out on the strength of viral lo-fi hits and earned critical acclaim for her albums Immunity and Sling. In a statement about the signing, Clairo expressed excitement for “the next chapter” of her career and confidence that the Atlantic team understands her vision.
“I’m so thrilled to begin this next chapter of my musical journey with Atlantic,” Clairo said, adding that “from our first meeting, they immediately understood my vision, and it feels good to know I can continue to be as expressive and free with my ideas with a great new partner by my side.” Atlantic’s leadership was equally effusive: label chairman Elliot Grainge praised Clairo as “the rare kind of artist who reshapes the music landscape simply by being true to herself” and called her voice and aesthetic truly unique. The deal positions Clairo alongside Atlantic’s powerhouse roster as she works on new music. After self-releasing her acclaimed 2024 album Charm, fans are eager to see what the Sophia singer creates under a major label banner – especially now that she’s found one that promises to let Clairo be Clairo.
