Snoh Aalegra Can’t Go Back to “Just Friends” on Tender New Ballad

Snoh Aalegra is keeping the new music coming. The R&B singer released “Just Friends,” the third single from her upcoming fourth studio album, Legendary Love, due November 13.

It’s a different side of the album than “Karma” and “I Love You.” The song is a tender, enveloping ballad about the painful confusion of trying to turn a passionate relationship back into a friendship. Aalegra sings about how easily ex-lovers slip into old habits, even when they know it won’t work, and the self-deception it takes to pretend things can go back to normal.

The writing room stayed small. Aalegra wrote the song with Lou Val and Joel Compass, who produced the track and co-wrote “Karma.” The single is out via her own Feels Run Free imprint.

“Just Friends” arrives just weeks after “Karma” ended a three-year break. The 13-track Legendary Love follows her Grammy-nominated Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.
