Miley is back on top. Going by her first name for this era, the pop star has landed her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in over a decade as “Bass Persuades” debuts at the summit with 61,000 equivalent album units.
It was a photo finish. Ella Langley‘s “Dandelion” held at No. 2 with just under 61,000 units, while Riley Green earned his first top 10 at No. 3 with “That’s Just Me” and 60,000 units. Morgan Wallen‘s “I’m the Problem” and Olivia Rodrigo‘s “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” rounded out the top five.
“Bass Persuades” marks Miley’s sixth chart-topper and first since “Bangerz” in 2013, plus her 16th top 10 overall, a tally that includes her Hannah Montana soundtracks. Physical and digital sales did the heavy lifting, with 47,000 of the week’s units coming from album sales. She also joins Bruno Mars and A$AP Rocky as the third act this year to wait at least a decade between No. 1 albums.
“Bass Persuades being #1 transcends a win,” Miley wrote to fans on Instagram. “This process has been some of the best times for me.”
Over on the Hot 100, Langley keeps rewriting history. “Choosin’ Texas” logs a 24th week at No. 1, extending the all-time record she claimed just a week earlier when she passed Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The song also set a new mark for most weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart with 19.
