Miley Cyrus is bringing back her famous alter ego — and a whole lot of emotions — in the first trailer for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special. In the clip, which Cyrus shared on social media, she strolls onto the old Hannah Montana soundstage in the character’s signature blonde wig. “Already getting emotional,” Cyrus quips at the outset, and it only gets more nostalgic from there. Fans are treated to glimpses of Cyrus performing hits like “Best of Both Worlds” and “The Climb” in full Hannah persona, as well as an heartfelt on-set reunion with her real-life parents.
In one touching scene, Billy Ray Cyrus — who played Hannah’s dad Robby Ray on the Disney Channel show — dances beside his daughter, while Tish Cyrus flips through family photo albums with her. The special, premiering March 24 on Disney+, is timed exactly 20 years since Hannah Montana first aired. It promises a mix of live nostalgia and behind-the-scenes insight: Cyrus sits down for an interview with Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper, who notes in the trailer that “this show defined a generation.”
Disney says the special was filmed before a live studio audience and even teases “familiar notes” making a comeback. For Cyrus, it’s all a love letter to the fans who grew up with her. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of,” she said in a statement, adding that this “Hannahversary” is her way of thanking lifelong supporters. As Hannah herself might say, Miley is truly giving us the best of both worlds again.
