Country music legend Dolly Parton stunned fans this weekend by announcing that her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency will be postponed. In a statement on Instagram, the 79-year-old icon explained: “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts.” Parton revealed she has been dealing with some unspecified health challenges and needs “a few procedures.” “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up,” she quipped, showing her trademark humor.
Dolly’s Vegas run – the first major residency of her career in 32 years – was slated for early December at a Las Vegas Strip theater. Instead, she said she simply won’t be able to “rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see” given her current condition. She emphasized her commitment to quality: “You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” Dolly added. While disappointed concertgoers expressed understanding on social media, many fans rushed to wish the superstar a speedy recovery.
The country star also reassured everyone that her postponement is temporary: “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” Parton said with a laugh. She thanked fans for their support and understanding, promising to reschedule the Vegas dates as soon as possible. In the meantime, she’ll be taking it easy at home in Nashville and focusing on getting healthy – after all, she joked, even she needs a little R&R every now and then.
