Zayn Malik is officially back. The former One Direction star has released “Die For Me,” a brooding new single that pours his heart out over a turbulent relationship – pleading “Don’t leave me now when I need you the most” in the chorus. The music video echoes that turmoil, as Malik braves a literal storm on screen to mirror the song’s emotional chaos.
“Die For Me” arrives alongside the announcement of Zayn’s fifth solo album, KONNAKOL, set to drop April 17. Malik explains that konnakol – a term for vocal percussion in Indian music – holds deep significance for him, reflecting a re-connection with his roots. He calls the record a “development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever who I am, where I come from and where I intend to go.” Fans can also look forward to seeing Zayn on stage again: he’s plotting his first-ever solo arena tour later this year.
