Megan Thee Stallion sends love letter with new single

Houston hitmaker Megan Thee Stallion is embracing a new, romantic vibe with her latest single “Lover Girl,” which arrived Oct. 24 via Hot Girl Productions. Unlike her usual club bangers, this song is a sweet ode to love — it prominently samples ’90s R&B trio Total’s classic “Kissin’ You,” giving the track a nostalgic bounce-infused groove. Over this upbeat backdrop, Megan delivers confident, sultry verses and even chants about her man in the chorus (“my man, my baby”). The lyrics and vibe of “Lover Girl” have fans speculating it’s inspired by her real-life romance with NBA star Klay Thompson.

Interestingly, the beat itself started as a TikTok demo by newcomer producer Jacobdior, who captioned it “Someone call Megan.” Megan’s enthusiastic response on social media — “Friend I’m late but if you send me this beat I will record it TONIGHTTT” — became legend, and indeed she laid down the track that same night. The result is a fresh, feel-good anthem that shows off her versatility: gritty rap meets retro R&B. An official video featuring Megan playing a modern Cupid (complete with a pink outfit and bow-and-arrow) dropped alongside the track, and fans are already calling “Lover Girl” a fun twist in Megan’s catalog and the perfect soundtrack for her new “lover girl” era.
