Pop singer-songwriter Charlie Puth is back with a heartfelt new single titled “Changes,” released this past Friday as the first taste of his upcoming album. The track finds Puth diving into 1980s-inspired pop textures – think glossy synths, electric guitars and even a gospel-tinged choir – while reflecting on major shifts in his life. “There’s been some changes in our life, I can feel the distance, space and time,” he sings in the soaring chorus, hinting at personal growth and upheaval. Fittingly, the song’s nostalgic, claymation-filled music video ends with Puth and his wife, Brooke, gently cradling her belly – a creative reveal that the couple is expecting their first child.
Before the single dropped, Puth had teased on Instagram that “Changes” would “bring all of you into the most beautiful, colorful part of my life, which happens to be right now… You will soon know why.” The new song also launches the era of Puth’s fourth studio album, titled Whatever’s Clever!, slated for release on March 6, 2026. It’s his first album since 2022, and if “Changes” is any indication, fans can expect an emotional and sonically rich journey ahead.
