Country performer Adam Mac steps down from Kentucky’s Tobacco Festival after being asked to hide his sexuality

Country artist Adam Mac made a heartfelt announcement on TikTok, sharing that he voluntarily withdrew from headlining Kentucky’s Tobacco Festival due to concerns about his sexuality.

In an emotional video, he recounted receiving a call from a festival board member expressing worries about promoting homosexuality in a family-friendly environment. Despite being disappointed by the backlash, Mac emphasized his intention to deliver an incredible show. Regrettably, some individuals in the town expressed anger at the idea of a gay artist headlining the festival, sparking protests and online comments. “The last 24 hours have been a bit of a whirlwind,” he says. “As some of you may know, the Chamber or Commerce for Russellville, Kentucky, where I’m from, announced earlier this week that I would be headlining the annual Tobacco Festival.”

Mac expressed his sadness about not being able to partake in the event he hoped to be a part of.
