TikTok is doubling down on music content – and Demi Lovato is on board for the ride. The social media giant has announced a new live podcast series called TikTok In The Mix, and it’s kicking off with Lovato as the inaugural guest. The four-part series, co-produced with T-Mobile, premieres on December 11 at 6 p.m. PT via TikTok Live. Fans will be able to tune in real-time on the app as the pop star helps launch the platform’s latest foray into original programming.
Hosted by music curator Jack Coyne (of Trackstar fame), TikTok In The Mix will feature unfiltered chats with major artists about their work, their world, and of course the TikTok trends they’ve inspired. In the debut episode, Lovato is set to discuss the making of her newest album It’s Not That Deep, dive into the meanings behind some of her most famous lyrics in a segment cheekily dubbed the “Booth of Truth,” and even address a rumored collaboration with fellow pop star Zara Larsson. It’s a rare chance for fans to get up-close and personal with Demi in an interactive setting – essentially bringing a talk-show vibe straight into the TikTok ecosystem.
TikTok’s team says the series is about celebrating the connection between artists and the app’s massive music community. “TikTok is one of the most important platforms in the world for music today,” notes host Jack Coyne. “‘In The Mix’ lets fans get closer to the artists they love, and I’m thrilled to help bring those conversations to life.” With Lovato leading off, TikTok is clearly betting big on star power to draw users into its live-streamed podcast venture. After Demi’s episode, more A-list guests are expected to follow, keeping music fans coming back for more In The Mix.
