Kelly Clarkson Postpones Opening of Las Vegas Residency Hours Before Show

Kelly Clarkson abruptly postponed the opening night of her Las Vegas residency just hours before showtime, citing vocal strain. The pop superstar took to Instagram on July 4 to break the news, telling fans she was “devastated” to delay the first shows at Caesars Palace. “We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” Clarkson wrote, adding that she was “beyond grateful” for their support but “devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.” She explained that “the prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice” and emphasized, “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage,” noting she would rest up over the next week to recover.

The residency, titled Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions, was originally scheduled to kick off July 4 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with 18 performances through November 15. Clarkson, 43, assured fans the show itself is “truly incredible” and that her band and singers are “outstanding,” but stressed the importance of starting strong rather than risking long-term vocal injury. The singer — who had a sold-out Vegas engagement in 2023–24 — had expressed excitement about returning to the Strip, and she promised to deliver the high-quality experience her audience “deserves” once she’s back on stage.
