Gaga Halts Sydney Show After Onstage Dancer Scare

Lady Gaga had to hit the pause button during her Sydney concert this weekend after a scary moment on stage. One of her backup dancers took a hard tumble off the front of the stage mid-performance, thanks to a rain-slicked platform at Accor Stadium. Without missing a beat, Gaga rushed to the edge of the stage to check on the fallen performer and immediately signaled for the band to stop playing.

Fans in the crowd say the pop superstar yelled “Stop!” and quickly addressed the audience to keep everyone calm. “We just had an accident on the stage. Everything’s OK, just wait a second please,” Gaga assured concertgoers, making sure her team had time to tend to the injured dancer. Stage crew members scrambled to dry the wet stage and Gaga insisted on getting better grip on her dancers’ shoes before proceeding. After a brief five-minute pause, the Chromatica singer picked up the show right where she left off, much to the crowd’s relief.

The dancer – Australian performer Michael Dameski – thankfully wasn’t badly hurt. In fact, he jumped back in to finish the number once safety precautions were in place. After the show, Dameski posted on Instagram: “I’m OK. Thank you for checking. Happy I was able to finish the last show of the year!” Gaga’s Sydney stop was the final date of her Mayhem Ball tour in Australia – a run that’s earned rave reviews for her high-energy performances and professionalism. Now fans have one more reason to praise Gaga for always putting safety and showmanship first, even in the face of unexpected mayhem.
