Britney Spears has a message for her ex-husband: she’s done staying silent. The pop superstar is firing back at Kevin Federline over what she calls “extremely hurtful and exhausting” claims in his upcoming memoir. Federline’s book, You Thought You Knew, reportedly alleges disturbing behavior by Spears during their marriage – including claims she used cocaine while caring for their infant and once stood over their sons at night holding a knife. The singer, 41, is vehemently disputing these stories and defending herself publicly.
Spears took to social media to slam Federline’s allegations, accusing him of “constant gaslighting.” “The constant gaslighting from my ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” Britney wrote, addressing the pair’s two sons, now 19 and 20. She voiced heartbreak over how little she’s seen her children in recent years, saying one son only visited her for 45 minutes in the last five years and the other only a handful of times. “Relationships with teenage boys are complex,” she noted, adding that she has felt “demoralized” by the situation.
Britney also didn’t mince words about Federline’s motives. She described his memoir as full of “white lies” intended to make money “straight to the bank” at her expense, especially now that his child support payments have ended. Concluding her post with a firm declaration, Spears wrote, “I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.” It’s the latest chapter in a very public feud – and Britney is making it clear she won’t stand for what she views as false attacks on her character or her motherhood.
