Beyoncé is heading back to the Met Gala — and she’ll be helping lead the party. Vogue announced that the superstar will co-chair the 2026 Met Gala alongside Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and tennis legend Venus Williams, joining Vogue’s Anna Wintour at the helm of fashion’s biggest night. The event’s theme, “Costume Art,” will explore the connection between the human body and fashion as art, making this powerhouse trio’s involvement even more anticipated.
The announcement marks Beyoncé’s first Met Gala appearance in a decade — she last walked the famed Met steps in 2016’s “Manus x Machina” gala — so her comeback is already generating major buzz. Kidman and Williams are no strangers to the Met Gala either, both having turned heads at the 2025 “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” event this past May. Notably, the 2026 gala will feature an all-female slate of co-chairs, a change-up after last year’s all-male group.
Curator Andrew Bolton offered a glimpse into the upcoming exhibition’s vision, explaining, “I wanted to focus on the centrality of the dressed body within the museum… ‘Costume Art’ privileges the indivisible connection between our bodies and the clothes we wear.” In addition to the celebrity co-chairs, the Met Gala’s host committee will be co-led by designer Anthony Vaccarello and actress Zoë Kravitz. The committee’s star-studded roster includes Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Teyana Taylor, Gwendoline Christie and more — with additional names to be announced as the big night approaches. The 2026 Met Gala is set for May 4 in New York City, so mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening of fashion and art.
