Taylor Swift is not giving up the summit anytime soon. “Patient Zero” held at No. 1 on the UK singles chart for a second consecutive week, extending the run for her 22nd UK chart-topper.
The track comes from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, and the race was tight. It was reportedly neck and neck with Sienna Spiro earlier in the week before Swift pulled clear. Like three other Encore tracks, “Patient Zero” did see a week-on-week dip in consumption, but it was still enough to stay ahead.
The song is also dominating on the other side of the Atlantic. On the Billboard Hot 100, “Patient Zero” took over the No. 1 spot, ending Ella Langley‘s record-setting 24-week run with “Choosin’ Texas,” which now sits at No. 2. It arrived with 34.5 million streams, 28.5 million radio airplay audience impressions and 65,000 downloads sold.
The win is Swift’s 16th Hot 100 No. 1 and her fourth chart-topper this year, following “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite” and “I Knew It, I Knew You.” Three of the current top five come from the Showgirl deluxe edition.
Swift now holds 74 Hot 100 top 10s, the most of any female artist and second among all acts behind Drake‘s 90. With the Encore era only just getting started, the competition has a lot of catching up to do.
