Bonnaroo is stepping away for a year, and it’s all because of the weather. Organizers announced the Manchester, Tennessee festival will not return in 2027, calling it a “much needed year off” after back to back seasons of extreme storms battered The Farm.
“This wasn’t an easy decision, and not one we take lightly, but in our hearts, we know this break will only make Bonnaroo better,” organizers wrote in an Instagram post.
The decision comes after years of weather related setbacks. The 2025 edition was canceled entirely after just one day due to record setting rainfall that made the campgrounds unsafe. Ahead of the 2026 festival, organizers poured resources into resilience upgrades, including improved drainage, 4.5 miles of new roadways and 135 acres of fresh grass. Even with those changes, this year’s event still faced a heavy rainstorm that forced a temporary evacuation of the main venue.
Bonnaroo 2026 ultimately went on as planned from June 11 through 14, with headlining sets from The Strokes, Noah Kahan and more. But between that storm and the toll of previous cancellations, organizers determined The Farm simply needs more time to recover before hosting again.
No return date has been confirmed, though the festival is expected back in 2028. For a festival built on camping and communal spirit, the pause marks an unusually long silence, but organizers are framing it as a reset rather than a goodbye.
