Taylor Swift‘s “August” is no longer soundtracking a Team Trump TikTok, and fans noticed fast. The video, posted to the @TeamTrump account earlier in the week, showed Donald and Melania Trump watching fireworks from a balcony with the caption, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.”
The post’s original caption leaned into the moment, reading in part, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!” By Friday, U.S. users noticed the “Folklore” track had vanished, replaced with a message reading, “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.”
Reaction was swift. “TAYLOR REMOVING THE AUDIO QUEEEEEEN,” one commenter wrote under the now silent clip. It’s not just “August” that’s disappeared from the account. A separate Team Trump video using Swift’s “Father Figure,” posted back in November, also lost its audio. A clip using her “Red” track, however, remained intact as of this writing, with the account leaning into the moment by rebranding it “Red (Trump’s Version)” alongside reworked lyrics referencing Republican talking points.
Neither Swift’s team nor Trump’s team has publicly commented on the removals. The dust up is the latest chapter in a tense relationship between the two. Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” back in 2024 after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president, and the White House has continued to needle the singer since, including around her recent wedding to Travis Kelce.
