Lizzo Sued for Copyright Infringement Over Snippet

Referencing Sydney Sweeney Ad

Lizzo has found herself in another legal battle — this time over a song snippet that never officially dropped. The pop star is being sued for alleged copyright infringement after previewing an unreleased track that sampled an old soul recording and referenced Sydney Sweeney’s viral American Eagle ad.

The snippet, which featured the lyric “Bitch, I got good jeans like I’m Sydney,” sparked immediate chatter online before disappearing from her socials. The lawsuit claims Lizzo borrowed musical elements from a 1970s soul song without permission, even though the track hasn’t been commercially released.

A representative for the singer has reportedly called the case “surprising,” noting that the song was never monetized and remains unreleased. Still, the filing adds another layer to Lizzo’s ongoing legal challenges as fans debate whether sharing creative snippets online should come with risks of its own.
