Katy Perry Fan Collapses on Stage During “Lifetimes” Tour Stop in Detroit

Katy Perry’s concert in Detroit took an alarming turn when a young fan collapsed on stage mid-show. The pop star was performing at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday as part of her Lifetimes Tour when she invited a small group of fans onstage for her song “The One That Got Away,” a routine Perry has been doing each night. One of the lucky fans chosen was a girl named McKenna, whom Katy had spotted high up in the arena by her sparkly blue outfit. Perry waited as McKenna and her friend excitedly made their way down to the stage, greeting them with hugs. But just as the singer was about to start the song, McKenna suddenly fainted in front of the crowd of 13,000.

Katy Perry immediately rushed to the fan’s side, kneeling beside the girl as her crew and on-site medics tended to her. The arena fell silent before supportive chants of “Mc-ken-na! Mc-ken-na!” broke out among the audience. After a few tense moments, the unconscious fan was carried off for medical attention, and Perry gathered the remaining three fan guests in a reassuring group hug. The visibly concerned superstar then led the crowd in a heartfelt prayer. “Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen,” Katy said, her arms around the other fans. She remarked that stepping on a big stage can be “overwhelming” and told the audience she understood how the young girl must have felt. With the crowd’s encouragement, Perry resumed the concert, dedicating “The One That Got Away” to McKenna. Later in the show – while soaring over the crowd on a giant butterfly-shaped platform – Katy delivered good news: “McKenna’s doing great, by the way!” she announced, prompting cheers of relief. The fan’s condition was confirmed to be stable after evaluation backstage. Perry’s Detroit show was the 13th stop on her tour’s North American leg, which will continue this week in Toronto. Thanks to the singer’s quick response and the audience’s support, a frightening moment was turned into a touching display of unity and care.
