Eminem Documentary ‘Stans’ Coming to AMC Theaters

Rap icon Eminem is bringing his story to the big screen through the eyes of his biggest fans. The artist has produced a new documentary titled Stans – a nod to his classic 2000 song about an obsessed fan – and it’s set for an exclusive limited theatrical run. The film will play in over 135 AMC Theatres across the U.S. for one weekend only, from August 7 through August 10. Internationally, distributor Trafalgar Releasing will launch Stans in more than 1,600 theaters across 50 countries on the same dates. This unconventional documentary first premiered to positive reviews at SXSW’s inaugural London edition and is now headed to theaters, giving diehard Em followers a chance to experience it together on the big screen.

According to an official press release, Stans offers a “raw and riveting exploration” of Eminem’s career through the eyes of his most devoted fans, examining the “complicated relationship between one of the world’s most private artists and his massive public persona.” Directed by Emmy-winning journalist Steven Leckart and co-produced by Eminem himself alongside Oscar-winner Antoine Fuqua and others, the film blends archival footage, dramatic recreations, and intimate interviews to delve into the profound two-way impact between the rapper and his “stans.” A newly released trailer opens by defining the term “stan” and then shows real superfans asking Eminem pointed questions: “Why did you write the song ‘Stan’?” and “Why do you share so much about yourself in your music?” Eminem’s answers arrive in the form of the documentary’s candid journey through his life, music, and the fandom that has both uplifted and challenged him over the years.

Alongside the film, Eminem is also dropping a curated soundtrack featuring music that shaped his journey – including some previously unreleased tracks – as a companion piece to the documentary. For a rapper who’s already sold over 160 million records and earned 15 Grammys, Stans represents a new kind of career retrospective: one told not by Eminem alone, but by the loyal fans whose own stories have been intertwined with his.
