In a cross-generational collaboration, music legend Dionne Warwick, rapper Saweetie, and R&B singer Mya have joined forces on a new version of Diane Warren’s song “One Heart (Can Change The World).” The powerful track will serve as the theme for the upcoming animated film OZi: Voice of the Forest, which aims to raise awareness about climate change. The song’s mission hits close to home for its creators: Grammy-winning producer Damon Elliott (Warwick’s son) and songwriter Diane Warren both lost their homes in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires last year, which partly inspired the film’s story.
“Producing this song for such a cause is deeply personal,” Elliott said in a statement, noting he was directly impacted by the fires that ravaged California. OZi: Voice of the Forest follows a young orangutan separated from her parents due to human-triggered forest fires. Raised in a sanctuary, OZi uses her influence to fight deforestation and save her family’s home. “Watching the film, which beautifully illustrates how one heart can change the world, moved me to write this song,” added Warren, who penned “One Heart” to amplify the film’s hopeful message.
The film boasts a star-studded voice cast — including Laura Dern, Amandla Stenberg, Donald Sutherland and RuPaul — mirroring the all-star trio on its title song. All proceeds from “One Heart” and OZi will be donated to environmental charities like International Animal Rescue and the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme, ensuring the art goes hand-in-hand with real-world impact. The single is slated for release this spring, giving music fans a chance to support the climate cause one song at a time.
