Billie Eilish Teases 3D Collaboration With Filmmaker James Cameron

Pop superstar Billie Eilish has a Titanic-sized surprise in store for fans – and she’s enlisted none other than James Cameron to help pull it off. During a concert in Manchester, England this week, Eilish paused her set to announce she’s collaborating with the Oscar-winning filmmaker on something “very, very special.” “You may have noticed that there are more cameras than usual in here,” Billie told the crowd, teasing that all four of her sold-out Manchester arena shows were being filmed. “Basically, I can’t say much about it,” she continued, “but what I can say is that I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron and it’s going to be in 3D.” The arena erupted in screams at the reveal, and Eilish added with a grin that the legendary Avatar director was actually in the building watching: “He’s in this audience somewhere, just saying… also I’ll probably be wearing this exact outfit for like four days in a row,” she quipped.

While Billie kept details under wraps, the collaboration appears to be a concert film or documentary project capturing her live performance in immersive 3D. The 21-year-old singer is no stranger to on-screen projects – she’s already released an Apple TV+ concert film (Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles) and a behind-the-scenes documentary (Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry). Teaming up with James Cameron, known for pushing the boundaries of 3D filmmaking with Avatar and Titanic, suggests this new project will be especially ambitious. Fans online immediately began speculating whether they’re about to get a cutting-edge 3D concert movie experience. Eilish, for her part, promised more info soon, telling the Manchester crowd, “Take that as you will… you and me are part of a thing that I am making with him.” If Cameron’s involvement is any indication, Billie’s next visual venture could be an epic merging of music and movie magic – in three dimensions.
