Rock icon Stevie Nicks has postponed a string of upcoming concerts after suffering a shoulder injury. The 77-year-old Fleetwood Mac singer announced over the weekend that she fractured her shoulder, forcing her to delay all of her planned shows in August and September. Nicks was slated to kick off a North American solo tour this month, but in a statement on social media she explained that the injury “will require recovery time.” As a result, the August and September dates are being rescheduled for later in the year. “Please note that October dates will be unaffected,” the statement assured, noting that the tour will resume on Oct. 1 in Portland, Oregon.
Fans are urged to hold onto their tickets, as they will be honored on the new dates once announced. Nicks’s team has already set some make-up shows: the postponed run will now begin in Detroit on October 28 and wrap up on December 10 in Hollywood, Florida. In her message, Stevie apologized to her loyal followers for the sudden change of plans. “Stevie looks forward to seeing everyone soon and apologizes to the fans for this inconvenience,” the statement read. The wording of the announcement initially alarmed some fans – its somber tone led a few to fear a more serious health issue – but relief quickly set in once it became clear Nicks is expected to recover fully. Many have been sending the rock legend well-wishes for a speedy healing, while looking forward to catching her on stage later in the fall.
