THE
OTHER SIDE
written by Roy Opochinski
One of the more entertaining and innovative travel guides
on the market was just released by Time Out magazine
and Deaf Dumb and Blind Communications. The Other Side,
which utilizes the DualDisc format, presents a DVD guide that
acts as a visual handbook to the city presented. The flip
side of the disc is a mixed CD compiled by an native audio
pioneer from the respective city.
For The Other Side’s New York guide, Fischerspooner
are the hosts and the journey they undertake is impressive.
In approximately 20 minutes, the viewer is introduced to hip
shopping, food, and cultural happenings that take place throughout
the five boroughs of New York City.
This is a point worth bearing because it instantly gives credibility
to the guide. With a plethora of hip venues to choose from
in Manhattan, it would be easy to forget about the outer boroughs
of the city. Fortunately, The Other Side remembers
that there are cool places in Queens and Brooklyn; you just
have to know where they are. |
