iROCK
HEADPHONES
written by Steven Hillsborough
Plain old headphones are fine for listening to music
while you’re working on the computer, but when you’re looking
for that surround sound experience and don’t want to invest
in an expensive speaker system, the irock! Theatre Sound
(Model 1051) 5.1 Surround Sound Headphones might be a
great alternative (and a reasonably inexpensive one as well
at $49.99.)
The headphones contain six speakers (front, rear, and bass
drivers, as well as a center driver speaker) and a 6.5 foot
headphone cord. The phones are USB 2.0 compliant and the equalizer
offers simulated jazz, rock, rap, dance, and vocal effects.
The Model 1051 also supports master volume, subwoofer effects,
and mute control, and the Xear 3D driver software offers 3D
sound configuration. Support for Microsoft DirectSound and
DirectSound 3D is offered and the headphones support A3D and
EAX 1.0 and 2.0.
For those interested in the tech stuff, the headphones require
that you run Windows XP Home or Pro or Mac OSX (v 10.1 or
later) a USB port, and a (4x or faster) CD-ROM drive. |
