BUCKCHERRY
written by Roy Opochinski
In
today’s musical environment, four years away from the business
seems like an eternity. For a band like Buckcherry, returning
to the scene after being away for nearly a half-decade means adapting
to a world where CDs don’t sell like they used to. “A whole lot
relies less on the number of CDs you sell,” Nelson explained.
“There are many avenues to get the music to the fans. We’re looking
for the alternatives.”
One alternative route is the road. The band has been touring since
November 2005, having hit Japan and Southern California. “One
of the things I’ve enjoyed most is the camaraderie,” Nelson said.
“That was missing for Josh and I at the tail end of the first
incarnation of Buckcherry.”
Another positive aspect of life on the road is the band’s ability
to play all of Buckcherry’s songs something that the band was
unable to do at the tail end of its first incarnation. “Some of
the old stuff we weren’t pulling off as a band,” Nelson said.
“With the current lineup, we’re playing them all b-sides and
the stuff fans have [been asking for.] This is a continuation
of what was going before personalities and money and bullsh-t
got in the way.”
